Family Music Class

We will have fun tickling our senses while playing with (learning!) music, language, motor, social, and pre-academic skills.
Join us for 45 minutes of music and play while we explore songs, instruments, games, rhythms, chants, pitch, movement, sign language, and a variety of musical styles. Lisa is a board-certified music therapist with years of experience. ALL children are welcome!
How it Works
Music on the Move classes run on a weekly basis. You do not need to commit to a “semester” of any kind. Most people attend class weekly to meet with music friends and provide the little ones with plenty of repetition and learning. However, you can easily sign up for a single class.
Current Family Music Classes
Mondays - 11 am at The Play Cafe
This class is held in the open play space at the Play Cafe. Sometimes it’s busy and distracting – but The Play Cafe makes it a GREAT deal for you! You won’t see this price anywhere else!

Wednesdays - 9:30 am (Unity Center)

9:30 – 10:15 am every Wednesday

Illness Policy
We all want to keep our children healthy! Please keep your child home if he or she has experienced any of the following symptoms within the last 24 hours: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, contagious rashes, or contagious eye infections. We do understand that some symptoms such as residual coughs, runny noses, and non-contagious rashes are a regular part of life with children. Please use your best judgment. If your child is visibly ill, chances are he or she is not feeling well enough to participate in a highly stimulating activity such as music.
Weather Cancellations
If weather is questionable, please check your email, Facebook, or Instagram for updates. If you have signed up for a class that is canceled, you will receive an email. We will generally follow the Cedar Rapids School District. If classes are delayed or canceled there will likely be no music class.
Food and Drink
While food and drink are allowed in our space, we ask that you not bring them to class. They can be hugely distracting to participating children and life-threatening to children with allergies. Caregivers who need to breastfeed or bottle-feed their children during class are welcome to do so. In fact, many families choose to use lullaby time for this purpose.
Coming Late
If you are running late, please don’t worry. We’ve all been there! Whether you make it in time for the “Hello Song” or just in time for “Goodbye”, we would love to see you. Do keep in mind that, for some children, the “Hello Song” is an important ritual and missing it can be upsetting. If you think you might miss it, you may consider singing it in the car!
